Behind the Scenes
Another promo, another 10 minutes of recording to get a couple sentences down. It’s easier to pull a Jack Donaghy when you have the luxury of unlimited takes in your room. Also, the third cut here sounds a little like I’m doing a Borat impersonation when I say my name.
You can hear the final promo and—you guessed it—learn more about the Reading Month Collection over on RRR’s site.
Behind the Scenes
I’m punching in audio parts for a RRR promo that highlights the four versions of each song we produce. I also have a cold and my voice is shot—luckily Ben is recording the main voiceover—so assuming we use these at all, they’ll be layered on top of music and other effects. Look for it soon on our YouTube channel, which we will be using a lot more from now on.
(I added effects to some parts so you can hear the before/after.)
UPDATE: Here’s the final audio promo. Video coming soon.
RRR’s YouTube Glory
I’m late on posting this, but my educational rap music company, Rhythm, Rhyme, Results, had a “Featured Video” on the YouTube homepage this week! Around the date of the presidential inauguration last month, our song “44 Presidents” got a lot of attention and caused a huge spike in traffic on our site.
On a whim, I gathered a bunch of pictures from Wikipedia, threw together a basic slideshow, and uploaded it to YouTube, not thinking anything of it; residual traffic garnered it about 16,000 hits over the next few weeks.
Thanks to President’s Day and the Google Gods, it just got over 200,000 hits in two days! You can see the lyrics, buy the song, and more at RRR’s 44 Presidents song page.
UPDATE: You can hear more about us and this song (in its older form, “43 Presidents”) in an NPR audio feature on us that aired in April 2008. (Direct audio link, requires RealPlayer.)
