Major Lazer vs. Olive

[Note: this post contains content that does not display properly or at all in the Tumblr dashboard.]

Just heard “Keep It Goin’ Louder” by Major Lazer (2009), and the chord progression reminded me of “You’re Not Alone” by Olive (1996), a high school favorite of mine.

Headlock by Imogen Heap

Still one of the most interesting productions ever to grace my iPod. Incredible ear candy with lots of unusual elements. Worth hearing in CD quality, but here’s a HQ version.

My favorite song off the album is “Loose Ends”. Here’s a live version with Kid Beyond beatboxing. (Skip to 2:10 for the lead-in to “Liiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaar…!”)

Friday Slink: Forever (Feat. Kanye West, Lil Wayne, And Eminem) (Steve Aoki Remix) by Drake [via TrashBagsKids and the Hype Machine Spy]

A little hectic, a bit intense.  Just right.

Elasticity by Rhythm, Rhyme, Results

The Justin Timberlake-ish track off our (soon to be expanded) Flat World Economics album.  Matt O’Malley (producer) and Mac Soto (singer) went all out.

Pop quiz:  Off what major-label song is this track loosely based? (Hint: female singer)

Another MC who recorded on the same album actually knew the answer.  Do you?

Friday Slink: There He Go by Fabolous (buy)

Late on the holiday slink.  I’m sifting through the albums mentioned in AZ’s 100 Best Rap Songs of 2009 and finding more (cheesy) gems like this.  Produced by Blackout Movement (cf. “This is Why I’m Hot”).
