A Better Finder Rename
We (SoPo) recently began rehearsing a new work flow for recording a bunch of instrument samples and slicing them up for use by MIDI data. This is all in preparation for a gig building a music library for a very exciting startup client. The problem is that after slicing and exporting everything, I end up with a bunch of files that need to be renamed consistently and in sequence:
- [prefix]-01-[suffix]
- [prefix]-02-[suffix]
- etc.
Photographers deal with this a lot, too.
The solution I found is a program called A Better Finder Rename. It’s available for Windows or Mac; I use the Mac version and it works like magic. Up to 10 renames at a time with the free version, $24.95 to purchase the full version. (I do at least 12 renames at a time, usually more.)
Full disclosure: they offer a referral program for webmasters in exchange for free products. However, I did not know about this until after I had used it and went to the product page to find out how to register the full version.
