Why hello, Wiley. Sasha Frere-Jones famously described grime’s best tracks as “like arguments between two implacable robot telemarketers.” [The New Yorker]. I went to a Streets concert a few years ago (opened by Lady Sov), and while I found the rapping mildly amusing, the music production blew me away. At first listen I feel the same about Wiley’s stuff, though the rapping is more tolerable. Even more so if they would turn him down in the mix just a tad.
