MC+TP=$1

I just returned from another week in New York, where I could not stop seeing promotions for Mariah Carey’s new album. She even performed in front of my hotel in Times Square. Typically I wouldn’t think twice about listening, not only because I’ve never purchased anything of hers in my life but also because I stopped paying attention to her awkward brand of girl-next-door eroticism a decade ago; however, now that I’m spending more time thinking analytically about music—and DJ-ing here and there—it’s important to spend more time understanding what’s happening in the pop world.

Having returned home and previewed it, I’m here to report that I actually bought two of the tracks. If you were to preview the album and know me, you could probably guess which two.

For the Record

Danja is so good at keeping things simple without going too far with the empty space (cf. the production in “Lean Back” by Scott Storch).

But why name the album E=MC2? Why??
