Father Abraham - “All My Friends Are CFOs”
It’s an exciting week over at 52pickup.
Friend/rapper/producer Father Abraham is approaching the halfway point of an ambitious song-a-week project, and the Web is starting to notice. This week’s song features another friend/rapper/producer, Grant Damon, along with friends The Young Dads, on a nice collab. (It’s the first time Abe has ever had someone join him on a song.)
A few months ago Abe asked me to recommend potential collaborators, and Grant was the clear choice. Both are intelligent lyricists who seek self-awareness over self-absorption, dabble in tongue-in-cheek and politically charged subject matter, and engage in rapid-fire delivery. They needed to meet, and I’m glad it worked out.
Cheers!
Grant killed his verse on this song. I like how our approaches to the topic are divergent but equally appropriate to the song: Grant is a thieving CFO with thieving CFO friends, whereas I am a frustrated young adult with friends who I am deathly afraid are outpacing me in an age where the gap between the haves and the have-nots grows increasingly wider, and although I was once expertly positioned to become a “have,” I chose a different path and “have not” (ha!) quite yet figured it out.
